El Capítulo de Galicia organiza para el próximo 14 a 16 de junio un Foro de conferencias CEV y unas jornadas de convivencia y promoción de la Cofradía en la Illa de San Simón.

Desde Galicia se pretende dar a conocer una de las islas mas exclusivas de Galicia, Illa de San Simón, en las Rías Baixas perteneciente a la Xunta de Galicia. A esta isla solo se puede acceder en barco y estará a disposición de la Cofradía durante esos días.

Esta isla ha sido especialmente famosa a través de Julio Verne y su libro “25.000 leguas de viaje submarino”, pues a su alrededor yacen los restos de las embarcaciones que participaron en la Batalla de Rande el 23 de octubre de 1702 y del fabuloso tesoro que los tripulantes del “Nautilus” salían a recoger. Prueba de ello es el monumento a Julio Verne en la Ensena de San Simón y el Centro de Interpretación de la Batalla de Rande, recientemente inaugurado en las cercanías.

Inicialmente fue monasterio durante la Edad Media, denominándose Illa dos Monxes, hasta mediados del siglos XVIII. A mayores resaltar que esta isla fue Lazareto de las embarcaciones que venían de América al puerto de Vigo desde 1838. Posteriormente fue prisión desde 1936 a 1943. En 2006 la Xunta de Galicia inicia un proyecto de recuperación y revalorización de todo el entorno.

Las actividades previstas son tanto para miembros de la Cofradía como para invitados de éstos.

El programa incluye:

Viernes 14 de junio. Recogida en el Puerto de San Adrián y traslado en barco a la Isla de San Simón y una cena de bienvenida.

Sábado 15 de junio:

  • Visita guiada a la isla y sus 29 puntos de interés (oficinas, puerto, centro cultural, náutico y deportivo, jardines, casa de baño, y centro interpretativo entre otros…).
  • Conferencias y reuniones.
  • Comida y cena de confraternidad.

Domingo 16 de junio:

  • Conferencias y reuniones.
  • Comida de despedida.

Paralelamente, el Comité de la Concentración de Veleros de la CEV está organizando su concentración en este entorno coincidiendo con los actos a celebrar en la isla.

GALICIAN CHAPTER ORGANIZE A CONFERENCE FORUM, MEETINGS IN THE EXCLUSIVE “ILLA DE SAN SIMON”

The Chapter of Galicia is organizing for the next 14-16 June, a conference forum of CEV, meetings and a promotion of “Illa de San Simon”.

We are trying to promote  one of the most exclusive islands of Galicia, Illa de San Simón, in the Rias Baixas and  belonging to the Xunta de Galicia goverment. This island is only accessible by boat and will be available to the Brotherhood during those days.

This island has been especially famous thanks Jules Verne and his book “25,000 Leagues Under the Sea”. Next to it are the remains of the vessels that participated in the Battle of Rande on October 23, 1702 and the fabulous treasure that the crew of the “Nautilus” picked out. Proof of this is the monument to Jules Verne in the close to “San Simón” and the Interpretation Centre of the Battle of Rande, recently opened nearby.

Initially monastery during the Middle Ages, being called “Illa dos Monxes”, until the mid-eighteenth centuries. Since 1838 this island has been Lazaretto of vessels coming from the America  to the port of Vigo. Afterwards it  was a prisión from 1936-1943. In 2006, the Government of Galicia, started a restoration project of the whole environment.


The planned activities are prepared for members of Fraternity and guests.

The program includes:
Friday, 14 June. Pick up at the Port of San Adrián and boat transfer to the island of “San Simon” and a welcome dinner.

Saturday 15 June:
• Guided tour of the island and its 29 points of interest (offices, harbor, cultural, nautical and sporty, gardens, bath house, and interpretive center among others …).
• Conferences and meetings.
• Lunch and fellowship dinner.

Sunday 16 June:
• Conferences and meetings.
• Farewell lunch.

In parallel, the sailboats meeting  Committee is organizing its concentration in this environment coinciding with events held on the island.
