La Cofradía Europea de la Vela organiza la IV concentración de veleros desde Finisterre hasta Illa de San Simón, coincidiendo con las actividades que la Cofradía va a organizar el 14 al 16 de junio.

La concentración de veleros tiene por objetivo el fomento de la cultura del mar centrándose en este año en la Batalla de Rande de 1702. Así pues, saldrán desde las cercanías de Finisterre, donde en esa fecha estaba concentrada la otra flota inglesa que participó al final en la Batalla de Rande a cargo del Almirante Cloudseley Shovell hasta llegar a la Illa de San Simón.

Se prevé que participen cerca de una decena de veleros que entrarán por la bocana norte de la Ría de Vigo, dirigiéndose directamente hasta la ensenada de San Simón, que ya en ese momento había sido tomada por la flota anglo holandesa.

Ramón Sabín, como presidente del Comité de Concentración de Veleros, organiza a la flotilla y el lugar de fondeo será al noroeste de la isla de San Simón. Desde los veleros desembarcarán las tripulaciones que participarán en los actos de la Cofradía en San Simón.

THE FOURTH FRATERNITY BOATS MEETING WILL PROMOTE THE BATTLE OF RANDE OF 1720 MAKING THE ADMIRAL CLOUDSELEY SHOVELL ROUTE FROM FINISTERRE TO ILLA DE SAN SIMON.

The European Sailing Fraternity organizes the 4th boats meeting from Finisterre to Illa de San Simón. It will take place at the same time that the Fraternity activities in Illa de San Simón on 14th to 16th of June.

This year, the boats meeting aim to promote the maritime culture around the Battle of Rande of 1702. By the way, sailing boats will start at Finisterre Head, where it was the Admiral Cloudseley Shovell float was waiting for Spanish silver float from America, and that it was involved at the end of the battle of Rande.

The Fraternity estimates around 10 sailing boats will enter by the north enter bay of “Ría de Vigo” and will sail direct to the San Simón Island, that in that time was occupied by British and Nederland float.

Ramón Sabín, as chairman of Sailingboats meeting committee, organizes the Fraternity float and they will anchor at northwest of San Simón Island. Crews will disembark in San Simón to take part in the event of the Fraternity in the Island.
