El 17 de enero de 2016 se ha reunido en Madrid la Comisión Organizadora de la Regata Lisboa-Canarias promovida por el Capítulo de Canarias de la Cofradía Europea de la Vela. El motivo fue presentar el proyecto de Regata elaborado por el cofrade Eugenio López, gran experto internacional en regatas.

On 17 January of 2016 has met in Madrid the Organising Committee for the Regata Lisbon-Canarias promoted by the Canary Islands Chapter of the European Sailing Fraternity. The reason of the meeting was to present the draft of the Regatta prepared by the member Eugenio Lopez, a great international expert in races.

Esta es la segunda reunión de la Comisión Organizadora. La primera había tenido lugar en las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

El Presidente de la Comisión es Francisco Quiroga, con el apoyo inestimables de los coordinadores del Capítulo de
Canarias, Enrique Boissier (Promotor de la idea) y del Capítulo de Lisboa, Antonio Bossa Dionisio y el secretario de Arturo Delgado Almeida, que fue Vicepresidente de la ISAF y de la Federación Española de Vela.

La reunión fue organizada por la Capítulo de Madrid, Victor Quiroga y el de Baleares, Juan Carlos Rodríguez Toubes, al celebrarse en la Cámara de Oficiales de la Armada en Madrid.

Eugenio López presentó los objetivos de la Regata que principalmente son por un lado, desarrollar un proyecto internacional de referencia de la Cofradía y por otro poner en valor la cultura marítima a través de los grandes descubridores y sus descubrimientos, haciendo llegar esta al gran público y sobre todo a los jóvenes.

El recorrido de la Regata sería desde el entorno de Lisboa, pasando por San Vicente hasta las Islas Canarias, con llegada al puerto de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. El recorrido sería de unas 755,8 millas.

Respecto a las embarcaciones se prevé que estén entre los 9,15 m y los 15,85 metros. Se contemplan dos Divisiones, la ORC para aquellos que deseen competir y la División OPEN para los que deseen hacer el recorrido relajadamente. Dentro de lo División ORC se prevén dos Clases A y B con un límite de separación en base, en la Clase A, un CDL superior a 10.0, y en la Clase B, un CDL igual o mayor a 7.2 y menor o igual a 10.0.

A nivel deportivo los organizadores serán la Asociación Naval de Lisboa y el Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria. Se analizan los aspectos de seguridad y seguimiento de la Regata a los efectos de darle la máxima prioridad. La regata será considerada Categoría C conforme a la Regulación 20 de la ISAF.

Se presentan los logotipos, nombres de la Regata y trofeos para su estudio y análisis por los expertos de la Cofradía.

Se acuerda poner en marcha un portal web de regatas y eventos de la Cofradía centrada inicialmente en esta Regata.

Por último se analizan los comités de trabajo que se han de crear y la necesidad de incorporar más miembros expertos en los distintos ámbitos.

La reunión finalizó con una comida de confraternización a la que fueron invitados los miembros del Capítulo de Madrid que quisieron asistir.

THE LISBON-CANARIES REGATTA. PROGRESS IN THE MADRID MEETING

comida madridThis is the second meeting of the Organizing Committee. The first took place in Las Palmas.

The President of the Commission is Francisco Quiroga, with the invaluable support of the coordinators of the Chapter of Canarias Islands, Enrique Boissier (Promoter of the idea) and Chapter of Lisbon, Antonio Bossa Dionisio and will be the Secretary of the Commission will be Arturo Delgado Almeida, who was Vice President of the ISAF and was the President of the Spanish Sailing Federation.

The meeting was organized by the Chapter of Madrid, with Victor Quiroga and by the Balearic Islands, Juan Carlos Rodríguez Toubes, and was held in the House of Officers of the Navy in Madrid.

Eugenio Lopez presented the aims of the regatta. One it is to develop an international benchmark project of the Fraternity. Other it is to promote the maritime culture through the great discoverers and discoveries, among the general public and especially young people.

The route of the Regatta will be from the area of Lisbon, through San Vicente cape to the Canary Islands, arriving at the port of Las Palmas. The route will be around 755.8 miles.

Respect of the type of the vessels of the regatta will be between 9.15 m to 15.85 meters. There will be two divisions, the ORC Division for those who wish to compete and the OPEN Division for those who wish to do the itinerary relaxed. In the ORC Division will be two Classes, A and B, with a limit of separation based on the Class A, more than 10.0 CDL, and in the Class B with a CDL equal or greater than 7.2 and less than or equal to 10.0 is expected .

A sporting level the organizers will be the Naval Association of Lisbon and the Real Yacht Club of Gran Canaria. The safety and monitoring aspects of the regatta were analyzed with the aim of giving the highest priority of safety. The regatta will be considered Category C in accordance with the article 20 of the ISAF Regulation.

The logos, names and trophies of the Regatta were studied and analyzed by experts of the Fraternity.

It was decided to launch a website of the regattas and events of the Fraternity.

Finally the Commission analyzed to create specific committees to include more members with expertise in different areas.

The meeting ended with a Fraternity Lunch with the members of the Chapter of Madrid who wanted to attend.
