Nuestro cofrade Joan Antón Camuñas ha desarrollado una gran actividad de difusión y sensiblización sobre el papel del mar, el deporte y la vela. El hecho de que un miembro del capítulo de Baleares invitara a otro miembro de la Cofradía nos habla del papel que la red de expertos de la Cofradía puede desempeñar en el apoyo a otras instituciones a la hora de definir y reflexionar sobre su futuro y forma parte de uno de los objetivos primordiales de la Cofradía.
Desde la Cofradía esperamos e invitamos al resto de cofrades a continuar con esta línea y a detectar en su entorno necesidades de reflexión y apoyo entre las entidades que actúan sobre el mar y que soliciten la colaboración desinteresada de nuestros cofrades para hacer llegar las aportaciones que solo la experiencia puede crear.
Joan Antón ha desarrollado una conferencia en el mes de octubre coincidiendo con el X Forum Olímpico de Barcelona y otra en noviembre en Ciutadella coincidiendo con el 90 aniversario del club e invitado por nuestro también cofrade Rafael Torrent.
La conferencia de Barcelona tuvo por título “No hay salida de la crisis sin cambio de paradigma”, y se enmarcaba en el Foro que la Fundación Barcelona Olímpica organiza cada año, y que en éste desarrolló el tema Deporte y Economía: modelos de futuro.
La tesis que sostuvo el conferenciante es que cuando en la sociedad se producen cambios importantes, los paradigmas tradicionales pierden validez y es necesario sustituirlos por otros que expliquen mejor la nueva situación, y ofrezcan mejores líneas de salida.
La crisis actual, que no es únicamente económica, difícilmente será superada utilizando esquemas y modelos que ya han quedado obsoletos. No se trata de hacer simplemente mejor lo que ya se hace, sino hacer aquello que la nueva situación exige: es necesario un cambio de paradigma.
Las crisis se perciben como amenazas, pero son también la mejor oportunidad de reinventarse y avanzar. Los grandes desarrollos de la humanidad siempre han venido después de las crisis y la asunción de nuevos paradigmas. No hacer el cambio necesario en los momentos clave, puede llevar a la desaparición.
Algo que ha cambiado sustancialmente y en forma muy rápida es el equilibrio geopolítico en el mundo. Europa ha perdido peso económico y político, mientras que el bloque asiático liderado por China, ha irrumpido con una fuerza tremenda, discutiendo paradigmas hasta ahora intocables en Occidente, como el propio estado del bienestar. Eso no tan solo no irá a menos, sino que irá a más.
También el mundo del deporte sufre cambios importantes y ha de hacer una profunda reflexión.
En Europa hay menos dinero para el deporte. Dentro de la propia práctica deportiva, la crisis deja cada vez menos recursos disponibles a los ciudadanos, con una notable repercusión en la pérdida de socios en los clubes, en las empresas y en los recintos deportivos.
Al mismo tiempo, emergen otras formas de hacer deporte, más baratas e incluso gratuitas, que están creciendo muchísimo en estos años: ciclismo en carretera, running, triatlón, maratón, natación de aguas abiertas, ….. etc.
El deporte también pasa a un dominio más público, en el que las administraciones a todos los niveles, intervienen y asumen cada vez mayor protagonismo en su gestión y desarrollo.
El derecho deportivo, hasta ahora intocable, queda cada vez más subsumido en el derecho común, y las federaciones dejan de tener su peso tradicional, ya que la propia economía las lleva a adoptar formas empresariales o a quedar relegadas a funciones reglamentarias y disciplinarias en las primeras instancias. Temas como el dopaje y el control económico de las competiciones y derechos de clubes y deportistas, van por ahí
Algunas de las líneas del nuevo paradigma que apuntaba Camuñas, pasan por:
- Deporte más abierto y menos reglado, más fácil y barato. Un deporte más cerca de la sociedad y como un instrumento de construcción y bienestar social.
- Una gran separación entre las diferentes formas del deporte: la práctica amateur, la profesional y el deporte-espectáculo, que llevarán a formas muy diferenciadas en su gestión.
- Por parte de los clubs, definirse e identificarse de forma muy clara ante el mercado: o liderazgo en coste o diferenciación. Los que se queden en medio, lo pasarán mal. No todos pueden jugar la Champions …
- Las federaciones tendrán que generar sus propios recursos, ya que habrá menos recursos públicos para ellas. Tendrán que hacer más de empresa. Confiar menos en el patrocinio y más en el marketing. Saber vender más que saber pedir
- Entender que los grandes espectáculos deportivos tenderán a desplazarse hacia los países que ahora son ricos: Asia, Emiratos, ….. Aquí ya no se pueden pagar, y no se confía en que puedan hacerlo. Habrá que verlos por la tele.
- Necesidad ineludible de profesionalización a todos los niveles.
- Mayor cooperación entre el deporte asociativo, las empresas y las administraciones.
El deporte será una manifestación más abierta, más globalizada, más cerca de las posibilidades de los diferentes tipos de colectivos, con una función social más potente, y en el que la cooperación de los clubs y las federaciones con las administraciones y las empresas, será totalmente necesaria.

Respecto a la conferencia sobre el impacto y legado de los deportes náuticos en la sociedad celebrada en Ciutadella en el Club Náutico de Ciutadella el 22 de noviembre con ocasión de los actos de cumplimiento de los 90 años del club se acompaña una reseña de Fel Torrent LLopis (Club Náutico de Ciutadella)
“A propuesta del comodoro del club náutico de Ciutadella de Menorca Rafael Torrent, cofrade de nuestra asociación y en uno de los actos celebrados por este club durante las celebraciones del 90 aniversario de su fundación, nuestro amigo y cofrade Joan Antón Camuñas, dió una estupenda conferencia con el título de IMPACTO Y LEGADO DE LOS DEPORTES NAUTICOS EN LA SOCIEDAD durante la cual explicó ante una nutrida asistencia, como a través de los deportes náuticos, sus instituciones (los clubes) sus acontecimientos (regatas, campeonatos, cursos) contribuyen a mejorar la sociedad donde viven, explorando los impactos tanto e conómicos, ambientales, urbanos. educativos, salud y cohesión social que tienen estos deportes.
Estuvieron presentes en la conferencia el Ilmo. alcalde de Ciutadella, el conseller de deportes del Consell de Menorca, los presidentes de los clubes náuticos de la isla, el gerente de la Asociación de clubes náuticos de Baleares y numerosas personas interesadas en los deportes náuticos especialmente los referidos al mundo de la vela.

Our colleague Joan Anton Camus has develop an important media activities about the role of the sea, sports and sailing. The fact that a member of the chapter of Balearic invited another member of the Brotherhood talks about the role that the expert of the Fraternity can play in supporting other institutions to study and think about his future and these type of activities are one of the primary objectives of the Brotherhood.
From the Fraternity we expect and invite the other brothers to continue this line in their territories and help to detect among entities with similar aims on the sea matters and requesting the collaboration of our Brothers-Experts their to deliver their experiences..
Joan Anton has developed a conference in October in the X Forum Olympic in Barcelona and other in November in Ciutadella coinciding with the 90th anniversary of the Yatch Club and also invited for our colleague Rafael Torrent.
The Barcelona conference was entitled ” No way out of the crisis without paradigm shift ” and was part of the forum that the Barcelona Olympic Foundation organizes every year, and in this year developed about Sports and Economics : future models.
The view expressed by the speaker is that when major changes in society occur, traditional paradigms become invalid and need to replace them by other to better explain the new situation, and provide better output lines.
The current crisis is not only economic, hardly be overcome using diagrams and models that have become obsolete. It is not enough to do what you already do, you have to do all that the new situation demands: we need a paradigm change.
Crisis are perceived as threats , but also the best opportunity to reinvent and advance. The major developments of humanity have always come after the crisis and the assumption of new paradigms. Not make the necessary change in the key moments , it can lead to the disappearance .
Something has changed substantially and very quickly in the geopolitical balance in the world. Europe has lost economic and political weight , while the Asian bloc led by China, has erupted with tremendous force , discussing paradigms untouchable in the West, as the welfare state itself. That will not only not less , it will be more important in the future..
Also the sports world has important changes and it has to take a long look..
In Europe there is less money for the sport. Within the sport itself, the crisis leaves fewer resources available to citizens, with a significant impact on the loss of members in clubs , companies and sports grounds.
At the same time, other forms of emerging sports , cheaper and even free , they are growing a lot over the years: road cycling , running, triathlon , marathon, open water swimming , … etc .
Sport also goes to a public domain, in which governments at all levels involved and assume an increasingly important role in its management and development.
The sports law, until this moment untouchable, is increasingly subsumed under the common law, and federations longer have their traditional weight because the economy itself leads them to make business forms or be relegated to regulatory and disciplinary functions in the first instances. Topics such as doping control and economic rights and Competitions Clubs and athletes go around that.
Some of the lines of the new paradigm pointing by Camuñas , pass by:
• Sports more open and less regulated , easier and cheaper . A sport closer to society and as an instrument building and social welfare.
• A large separation between the different forms of sport: practice amateur , professional and sports-entertainment that take very different forms in its management.
• On behalf of the clubs, defined and identified very clearly to the market : either cost leadership or differentiation leadership. Those who stay in the middle, it will badly. Not everyone can play the Champions …
• The federations will have to generate its own resources, as there will be fewer public resources for them. They will have to do more as Business companies. Rely less on sponsorship and more on marketing . To know to sell instead of to ask for.
• Understand that major sporting events will tend to move to countries that are now rich: Asia , Emirates, ….. Here we can not pay them, and they do not trust that we will do it in the future. We will have to see them on TV.
• Professionalisation will be inescapable need at all levels .
• Greater cooperation between sport associations, companies and administrations.
The sport will be a more open, globalized , closer to the capabilities of different types of groups, with a stronger social role , and in which the cooperation of clubs and federations with administrations and businesses will rally absolutely necessary .

” Under the proposal of the Commodore of the Yacht Club Ciutadella, Rafael Torrent, Brother of our association and in one of the events held by the club during the celebrations of the 90th anniversary of its founding, our friend and colleague Joan Anton Camuñas , gave a great conference entitled IMPACT AND LEGACY oF SPORTS iN SOCIETY during which explained to a large public, how water sports , its institutions (club ) their events ( races , championships and courses ) contribute to improving the society they live, exploring both economic , environmental, urban. educational impacts, health and social cohesion with these sports.
Were present at the conference the Mayor of Ciutadella , the Minister of Sports of the Consell of Menorca, the presidents of the yacht clubs on the island, the manager of the Association of Balearic yacht clubs and numerous people interested in water sports and especially in the world of sailing..
