Se ha celebrado Conferencia CEV sobre restauración de barcos de Época en Europa a cargo del experto internacional Stefano Faggioni.

Another ESF Conference took place about the Restoration of Vintage Boats in Europe by the international expert Stefano Faggioni.

El 13 de diciembre se ha desarrollado una nueva acción de divulgación de la Cultura Marítima  a través de la conferencia realizada por el experto Stefano Faggioni en la reconstrucción de barcos antiguos. La conferencia ha tenido lugar en Monforte de Lemos y a ella han asistido cofrades y amigos CEV de España y fuera de España.

El conferenciante, Stefano Faggioni, pertenece a una familia de larga tradición en la restauración y puesta en valor nuevamente de barcos de época. Stefano como arquitecto naval ha ayudado a volver a la vida marina a barcos tan nobles y conocidos como Candida, Astra, Lulworth o Patience y proyectando réplicas como Britannia y el barco del Rey Jorge V del Reino Unido.

En la conferencia Stefano ha dado respuesta a las siguientes cuestiones:

–          ¿Cuál es el objetivo de la restauración? Salvar lo que es parte de nuestra cultura – porque estos barcos, ya tengan terminaciones de lujo o para trabajo, son auténticas piezas de arte, al igual que todos los trabajos tradicionales que desafortunadamente estamos perdiendo.

–          ¿Cómo  se encuentran las embarcaciones? Se encuentran un poco en todos lados, muchas veces abandonadas tanto en el mar como en el campo. Suelen llegar a nosotros a través de apasionados que entienden su valor y quieren salvar lo que muchas veces podemos definir como una pieza de la historia de la náutica.

–          ¿Qué trabajos se han de desarrollar para recuperar la embarcación? Antes de nada una búsqueda de material que nos cuente la historia del barco y nos haga entender la razón de las modificaciones que sufrió. Posteriormente pasamos a la reconstrucción de la verdadera alma y espíritu del barco. Esto lo hacemos con un proyecto muy respetuoso en el que, una vez reconocido el espíritu guía del proyecto (ubicado en una época determinada) seguimos el razonamiento estético que nos sugiere el mismo. Es decir que todo lo que dibujamos (palo, herramientas, interiores, accesorios) lo hacemos con un espíritu original que nos permite restablecer una atmosfera original.

–          ¿Cómo se consigue un barco antiguo manteniendo su ambiente pero utilizando últimas tecnologías de seguridad y navegación? Toda la tecnología moderna es bienvenida a bordo porque es sinónimo se seguridad y esto significa también que el barco responde a todos los requisitos necesarios para seguir viviendo en nuestros días. La habilidad del proyectista es la de esconder perfectamente todas estas nuevas maquinarias al ojo del armador que quiera vivir en un ambiente perfectamente acorde a la época original del barco sin renunciar a las comodidades de hoy.

–          ¿Futuro de la restauración de barcos? Todo depende de la medida en la que la importancia de salvar estos barcos se interprete como una necesidad y como un acto cultural, que es lo que es. Espero que también los gobernantes y las asociaciones que cuidan la cultura de nuestros países recuerden que la construcción naval, la navegación, las artes marineas y todo lo que está relacionado con la mar, forma parte de nosotros y de nuestra cultura y merece todo nuestro esfuerzo para salvarlo.

THE FRATERNITY SPREAD THE WORK OF RECOVERY VINTAGE BOATS

Another ESF Conference took place about the Restoration of Vintage Boats in Europe by the international expert Stefano Faggioni.

On the 13 of December the European Sailing Fraternity has developed a new action to promote the Maritime Culture through the conference held by the expert Stefano Faggioni in reconstructing of Vintage Boats. The conference took place in Monforte de Lemos and members and friends of the Fraterinty from Spain and abroad were there.

The lecturer, Stefano Faggioni, belongs to a family with a long tradition in the restoration and enhancement of vintage boats again. As naval architect Stefano has helped to come back to sail known old boats like Astra, Candida, Lulworth, Patience and many others, as well he made the project for the Replica of Britannia, the ship of the King George V of the United Kingdom that made the history of yachting.

In the conference Stefano has answered  to the following questions:

– What is the goal of the restoration ?. Save what is part of our culture – because these boats, independent if they have luxury finishes or work finishes, are authentic pieces of art, like all traditional work we are unfortunately missing.

– How are the boats ?. We can find them sometimes abandoned at sea and sometimes in the field. Often they come to us through passionate people who understand its value and want to save what can often defined as a piece of history of sailing.

– What jobs have to be developed to recover the boat ?. First of all we have to start a search for material that tell us the history of the ship and make us understand the reason for the changes he suffered. Afterwards we start on the reconstruction of the true soul and spirit of the ship. We do this with a very friendly project that, once recognized the soul of the project (located at a certain time) we follow the aesthetic aspects of the ship. That is mean, that all you draw (stick, tools, interiors, accessories) do with an original spirit that allows us to restore the original atmosphere.

– How an vintage boat can achieved and maintain its atmosphere the latest security and navigation technologies? All modern technology is welcome on board because it does mean security and all requirements to continue living on in our day. The skill of the designer is to perfectly hide all these new machines to the eye of the shipowner who wants to live in a perfectly consistent with the period of the ship environment without giving up the comforts of today.

– What is the future of the restoration of boats? Everything depends on the importance of saving these boats is interpreted as a need or as a cultural action. I hope also the governors  and associations which are caring culture of our country remember that shipbuilding, navigation, marine arts and everything that is related to the sea, is part of us and our culture and deserves all our efforts to save.
