La Cofradía Europea de la Vela se ha presentado a la ISAF en el marco de las actividades organizadas en Mallorca el día 6 de noviembre en el Club de Mar de Palma y ha celebrado una Junta Directiva (Tabla) en la que ha acordado entre otros temas la incorporación de24  nuevos cofrades.

Presentación a la ISAF

La Cofradía ha hecho su presentación oficial a la ISAF el día 6 de noviembre aprovechando las reuniones que la ISAF tenía en la Isla de Mallorca.. Los actos de presentación consistieron en una presentación oficial y en una cena de confraternización.

La presentación fue iniciada por el Gran Maestre quien dio un breve discurso en el que recordó como nació la Asociación en 2001 y sus principales objetivos. También recordó la Audiencia que su Majestad el Rey de España Juan Carlos I ofreció a la CEV en el Palacio de la Zarzuela.

Seguidamente Joan Antón Camuñas, cofrade miembro de la Tabla y Presidente del Comité del Foro Internacional de la Vela realizó la presentación oficial de la CEV con la siguiente estructura:

• Cuales son los principios básicos de la Cofradía destacando que se trata de una asociación de personas no de instituciones, independiente y unidos por una pasión el mar y la vela.
• Que su principal objetivo de compartir y proteger la cultura del mar y la vela.
• Que cuenta con 156 miembros de pleno derecho, 3 miembros de honor y con representación en 22 países. Destacó que está tanto en Europa sobre todo en España y Portugal donde cuenta con organizaciones territoriales regionales como en América y África aunque se está trabajando en la ampliación de continentes.
• Que se organiza en un Consejo General (Asamblea), una Tabla (Junta Directiva) y en Capítulos (organizaciones territoriales que ayudan a desarrollar las actividades de la CEV en ese ámbito). Aprovechó la ocasión para indicar cuales eran los principales cargos de la Tabla.
• Finalmente dio a conocer las principales actividades que viene desarrollando la Cofradía entre las que destacó: Foro Internacional de la Vela, el Premio Internacional CEV, el Foro de Cultura Marítima, el Fondo de Conocimiento, las travesías náuticas y las actividades de los Capítulos.

Reunión de la Tabla e incorporación de nuevos miembros.

La Cofradía celebró el día 7 de noviembre su reunión de la Tabla en la que entre otros se acordó la incorporación de 24 nuevos miembros que van desde regatistas, navegantes, catedráticos, campeones del mundo, profesionales de la náutica. Estos nuevos miembros con la categoría de novicios hasta que realicen su acto de investidura proceden de Angola, España, Uruguay, Italia, Chile, Portugal, Canadá, Irlanda y Estados Unidos.

A mayores fue presentada la versión preliminar del Libro de Cofrades donde se podrá encontrar información de los miembros de la Cofradía para favorecer el desarrollo de actividades conjuntas y la difusión de conocimiento entre los territorios.

Por último destacar el informe de los avances del Comité del Premio de la CEV de cara a otorgarlo en 2015 en Portugal en el marco de los actos de Investidura que se celebrarán en ese país.

The European Sailing Fraternity has been submitted to ISAF as part of the activities organized in Majorca on November 6 at Club de Mar Palma and held a Board of Directors (Board) has agreed the incorporation of 24 new brothers.

Presentation to the ISAF

The Brotherhood has made its official submission to ISAF on November 6th through. That was possible because the ISAF had a official meeting in Majorca. The events were two. One the official presentations and the other a fraternizations dinner.

The presentation was initiated by the Grand Master who gave a short speech in which he recalled as the Association was founded in 2001 and its main objectives. He also reminded the audience that His Majesty the King of Spain Juan Carlos I offered to the ESF in the Zarzuela Palace.

Then, Joan Anton Camuñas, brother of the ESF, Chairman of the International Sailing Forum Committee made the official presentation of the ESF with the following structure:

– What are the basic principles of the Fraternity, emphasizing that the Fraternity is an association of individuals not of institutions, that it is an independent entity and united by a passion of the sea and sailing.

– That, its main purpose is to share and protect the culture of the sea and sailing.

– There are 156 members, 3 members of honour and it has representatives in 22 countries. It has representation in three continents: Europe, especially in Spain and Portugal where there are regional territorial organizations, America and Africa, but the ESF is working on expanding the Fraternity in other continents.

– It is organized in a General Council (Assembly), a Table (Board of Directors) and Chapters (territorial organizations that help develop the activities of the ESF in its area of action). He took the opportunity to indicate which were the principal officers of the Board

– Finally Joan Antón Camuñas released the main activities being conducted by the Fraternity including highlighted: International Sailing Forum, ESF International Prize, the Maritime Culture Forum, the  KnowledgeFund, the  nautical journeys and the activities of the Chapters.

Meeting of the Board of Directors  and incorporation of new members.

The Fraternity held on November 7 a meeting of the Board of Directors (Table) in which among others agreed to join 24 new members, ranging from sailors, boaters, professors, world champions and yachting professionals. These new members with the category of novices will be official members in the investiture ceremony. The new members are from Angola, Spain, Uruguay, Italy, Chile, Portugal, Canada, Ireland and the United States.

Also it was presented the preliminary version of the Book of Brothers where you can find information of the members of the Fraternity with the aim to promote the development of joint activities and the dissemination of knowledge among territories.

Finally it is important the progress report of the Award ESF Committee that it will take place in  Portugal in 2015 under the acts of investiture.
