La vela y el producto atlántico de la sardina se han unido en San Gilles de Croix de Ville (La Vendee, Pays de Loire, Francia) el pasado 17 de julio.
Sailing and atlantic product sardine joined St. Gilles Croix de Ville (La Vendee, Pays de Loire, France) on 17 July.
Nuestro Gran Maestre aprovechando su participación como presidente del Comité Internacional de los Juegos Atlánticos en la 20 edición que se celebraba en esa localidad, fue invitado a formar parte en representación de la Cofradía Europea de la Vela, de la Cofradía de la Sardina.
Esta Cofradía nació hace más de 100 años, promovida por la gente del mar y pescadores de la villa de Saint Gilles de Croix de Ville, que es el puerto pesquero de referencia en el Departamento de La Vendee, que es la provincia departida de la famosa vuelta al mundo Vendee Globe (Sables d´Olone) http://www.vendeeglobe.org y sede de Beneteau.
El acto de investidura incluyó, la lectura del juramento, imposición de capa y la degustación de la sardina tradicional de la zona.
Junto al Gran Maestre, Francisco Quiroga, fueron investidos el Presidente del Comité Olímpico Regional del País de la Loire, Yunsan Meas y el Presidente del Comité Organizador de los Atlantic Games, Marcel Retailleau, que es miembro de nuestra Cofradía Europea de la Vela. Los padrinos de los nuevos miembros fueron los Alcaldes de Saint Gilles de Croix de Ville, La Roch sur Yon y Saint Hilaire (villa de 5000 habitantes que en verano alcanza los 60.000)
Destacar como dato curioso que cada año la fábrica principal de conserva “conserverie Gendreau” cambia cada año la imagen de una de sus líneas seleccionando en un concurso en pintores locales la que será el cuadro a reproducir en las latas del año siguiente. CONFRERIE OF THE SARDINE (FRATERNITY OF THE SARDINE) DESIGNED GRAND MASTER OF HONOR TO GRAND MASTER OF THE EUROPEAN SAILING FRATERNITY.
Our Grand Master in his participation as president of the International Committee of the Atlantic Games in the 20th edition being held in that city, he was invited to take part on behalf of the European Sailing Fraternity, as the Brotherhood of the Sardine.
This Brotherhood was born over 100 years ago, promoted by seafarers and fishermen from the village of Saint Gilles Croix de Ville, which is the fishing port of reference in the department of La Vendee, which is the departure province of the famous Vendee Globe round the world (Sables d’Olone) http://www.vendeeglobe.org headquarters and Beneteau.
The investiture ceremony included the reading of the oath, the imposition of a official cape and a traditional tasting of a sardine of the area.
Along the Grand Master, Francisco Quiroga, were invested the Regional President of Olympic Committee of Pays de la Loire, Yunsan Meas and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Atlantic Games, Marcel Retailleau, a member of our European Sailing Fraternity. Sponsors of the new members were the mayors of Saint Gilles Croix de Ville, La Roch sur Yon and Saint Hilaire (town of 5,000 inhabitants that in summer reaches 60,000)
Highlight a curious fact that every year the main cannery “conserverie Gendreau” changes every year the image of one of his lines in a competition selecting in a local artists a picture which will be printed in the box cans next year. (Http://www.gendreau.fr/fla/paniers/paniers.htm)
